About Us

Bring Back the Deduction is a web-based grassroots program that hopes to help stimulate the economy by encouraging Congress to bring back the personal tax deduction for credit card, auto loan and personal loan interest that was eliminated by the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

www.bringbackthededuction.org is the brainchild of Ken Greenberg and the team at Austin & Williams, an award winning branding, advertising and marketing agency based on Long Island in Hauppauge, NY.

You may be wondering why a branding and advertising agency is taking the lead on an important economic issue. Ken explains:

"My degree is in Economics, and my first career was retail banking. So I think I have a pretty good understanding of the economy and what forces are at work here. As an advertising agency owner, my colleagues and I are living in the economy running a small business. We see the issues firsthand. And, since we're in the idea business, we're always thinking and looking at new ways to communicate ideas.

I've been talking with friends about the idea to bring back the personal interest deduction for a couple of months, and everybody agrees it makes great sense. But how to go about it? I've never been active in politics. I'm in advertising. So, we created this website. We're also on Facebook. Since this is a grass roots effort, we want to reach out to everybody we know, and have them reach out to everybody they know. Hopefully millions of people will contact Congress as a result of this effort, and we'll be successful in bringing back the deduction and getting our economy back on track."
